Background:

Beginning in January 2007, a small group of high school soccer parents formed this new association to help promote the game of soccer. Getting kids involved in the game at a young age and keeping them playing soccer will help better the high school programs and will help increase the acceptance of soccer in the Basehor Linwood area. In the first year, this organization was able to promote area recreational soccer leagues to all elementary age kids and parents, hold a youth skills camp attended by 40 youths and assist the high school boy’s team with Challenger camps in the off season. Fundraising also allowed the association to fund scholarships in this first year of existence.

A new soccer field was developed at the high school in 2008. BLSA helped support the school bond and worked with district officials to assist with the best possible layout and community outreach as this facility was built. Though the High School field will not be available for community use, a planned practice field and other school properties are being used for BLSA sponsored activities.
